    A Disappointment

After reading Peretti's previous thrillers I expected (and hoped) to again be on the edge of my seat - challenged, excited, and uplifted. Sadly I was not,""""House"""" left me disappointed and empty. After starting well, with interesting characters caught in a terrifying situation, the book collapsed into a maze of illogic and questionable spiritual beliefs that threw me out of the story with a painful thud, not caring what happened to the characters.

    Disappointing

I have read all of Peretti's work and usually love his penmanship. But """"House"""" is not up to his usual standard. \\r\\nPredictable plot twists, charicatured main characters, thin plot, bizarre symbology and an awful conclusion all abound in this book. \\r\\nI find it bizarre in the extreme that a movie is being made and that this book is being pushed more than his others. \\r\\nIf you want to read a good Peretti thriller, go and get Oath, now that is a good read. If you want to read something as trashy as Nightmare on Elm Street from a Christian perspective then get House.

Both authors are well known for interesting, fast moving stories that keep the reader up all night engrossed in what they are reading. To have these two men work together on the one novel only intrigues the mind at what they can produce. """"House"""" is the result; and it is fantastic. \\r\\n\\r\\nThe story begins with a married couple travelling through rural Alabama on their way to a marriage counselling session. The two have had a difficult year in marriage with both partners truly interested in only themselves. You soon get the impression that these two; Jack and Stephanie are fed up with each other and life in general. On their trip they come across a mysterious policeman who gives them a detour down a rarely travelled road that promises to get them to their destination on time. After travelling a few hours they are sabotaged and their car blows all 4 tyres. Their only hope; to ring for help from a homestead they passed a few moments ago. At this homestead you meet Randy and Leslie, another couple who are not married, but having difficulties of their own. What follows, is one frightening experience after another for both couples. The homestead owners appear to be quite unusual, and their simple son will give most readers a chill down their spine. When they meet Barsidious White however, you sense the pure evil from the man, and the game he…
