    Seriously Helpful

This book is a deeply serious, but easy to read and compassionate treatment of the subject of suffering. Don Carson addresses various types of suffering and evil from a thoroughly Biblical,Theological perspective. He does not """"fill in the gaps"""" of questions that cannot be answered in this present life, but does offer truths to feed on to give you a right and helpful perspective when suffering comes. The chapters on The Mystery Of Providence are particularly good. \\nI would recommend this book to people of all ages to help shape your thinking on this important subject that we might want naturally to avoid. \\n

    Very Insightful

I had to read this book for Bible college and found it to be a very helpful and quite full-on read. It is helpful for distinguishing the things that occur in life that cannot be explained, and those that are the result of a fallen world. I would definitely recommend it to people of all ages who are wanting to expand their understanding of the role of suffering in this life, but perhaps not to someone who is currently suffering as an aid as it may cause offence as it discusses extreme cases of suffering and might cause the person to feel guilt about the extent of their own suffering.

    Well thought out

This book helps readers engage with very real concerns faced by many today - suffering and pain. In his typically masterful way, Carson navigates these sensitive issues with gentleness and truth, like a discussion with a good friend rather than a rote, theological response devoid of heart. I particular liked the chapter """"Suffering God"""", which turned the narrative around to examine what Jesus actually did on the cross for us.
