    a great read

I started this novel thinking it was going to be a 'light and frothy' romance, but instead 'Just Between You and Me' draws on some rather serious themes including coping with mental illness of family members, and dealing with childhood traumas. But the seriousness of the plot is beautifully balanced with moments of witty humour and heart-warming romance. If you enjoy books such as Tracie Peterson's 'House of Secrets' or Lisa Wingate's novels, then you'll like 'Just Between You and Me'.

    Bold and Funky

Such an entertaining read! It was one of those books I wish went on forever simply because I was so immersed in the characters and their story. It has such spunk! Riley is a 10-year old who has been let loose. The situation with her mum is a very touchy subject because it's riddled with uncertainty. So who is left to look after her? Maggie Montgomery, her auntie who has vowed to look forward and live far away from her father and hometown as possible. But her niece needs stability, desperately. It's a story of great healing. But you will laugh, that's guaranteed!! The things Riley gets up to are just hilarious! And Maggie too, who in some ways encourages Riley's behaviour. Maggie, however, thinks she has to live up to the standards she set herself in her senior year all these years later. Then comes Conner, the peace maker and confident. It's a story not be missed. Don't worry, you will leave the adventure rather satisfied. But if you can walk away in the middle of it? That's the question you'll have to answer for yourself. You ready for the adventure?\\r\\n

    Funny, Funny, Funny

I picked up this book because I liked the cover and the blurb sounded good. I've never read Jenny B Jones before and I'm so glad that I did. I laughed so hard in this book so many times! That hasn't happened to me in a long time with a book. I even cried a few times. The witty dialogue and the internal monologue of Maggie is simply hilarious yet underneath this is a heartfelt and serious book. \\r\\n\\r\\nMaggie is funny, wild and running from the past. She comes across as real - someone you might have known in high school. Conner - the local vet, ex-nerd and former recipient of Maggie's wild pranks is there to push Maggie to the place she needs to be - stepping off the edge into trust, faith and hope. \\r\\n\\r\\nMaggie's difficult (to say the least) niece, Riley jumps off the page with life. She is believable as a troubled kid whose just looking for a firm foundation and someone to love her. \\r\\n\\r\\nAt many points this book did not shy away from the hard subjects, but Jenny B. Jones used humour to take the edge off the tension without taking away from the difficult circumstances. \\r\\n\\r\\nI loved Maggie and Conner! They are an awesome witty couple and their romance is just right. \\r\\n\\r\\nI loved, loved this book. Many re-reads are in it's future! Grab it if you are after a funny, real people moving closer to God in their own ways read. You won't be disappointed.
