    Solid Legal Thriller

I enjoyed Deadly Proof, the first book in Rachel Dylan's Atlanta Justice series. \\r\\nBut I didn't enjoy Lone Witness as much. I enjoyed the legal aspect from Sophie's viewpoint, but did find the number of point of view characters distracting as it wasn't obvious why I was seeing their side of the story. \\r\\n\\r\\nAnd I wasn't altogether convinced by the romance subplot-it all felt a little too contrived, rather than reading like a natural development. It wasn't bad. It just wasn't the standard I'd expected after reading Deadly Proof. I think that was partly the fault of the dialogue, which seemed a little too formal, too wooden, for characters who were supposed to be falling in love. \\r\\n\\r\\nThe legal thrillersuspense element to Lone Witness was well done. \\r\\nThe suspense is enhanced as the reader soon understands what Sophie and Cooper don't know: that Sophie had two separate sets of enemies . . . and that the attacks on her life weren't coming from where she and Cooper thought. There was a neat twist at the end of the story that I didn't see coming, so that was well done. \\r\\n\\r\\nI also enjoyed the legal aspects, which showcased the author's own legal experience in Grisham-worthy courtroom scenes. Overall, I'm sure legal suspense fans will enjoy Lone Witness. \\r\\n\\r\\nThanks to Bethany House and NetGalley for providing a free ebook for review.

    Sequels!

Lone Witness : Rachel Dylan Atlanta Justice #2\\r\\nProsecutor Sophie Dawson is the new Assistant DA for Fulton County and her first case involves a bank employee cheating customers, many having lost their savings. \\r\\nShe doesn't need to work, she has a trust fund that will take care of her, but she's determined to bring justice to those that need help. \\r\\nHer life is turned around when she becomes the sole witness to a double homicide with gang ties. \\r\\nHer Dad quickly hires Cooper Knight and he is quietly keeping an eye on her getting to and from work. But when she's attached in a public place his role becomes much more involved not only in raising the security around Sophie but also in the case investigation. \\r\\nUnwilling to let either case go, Sophie pursues the truth at all cost. The Bank litigation is getting complicated and neither Cooper or Sophie know who to trust or if the attacks are from only one source. \\r\\nCooper is steadfast and Kate finds herself leaning on him more as the cases continue and the homicide trial begins. \\r\\nKate is attracted to Cooper from very early on but keeps her focus on the cases she's involved with. \\r\\nKate she trust her heart to Cooper? Can Cooper have a change of heart? letting his past go and embracing the chance at an amazing future together. \\r\\nHave really enjoyed this Atlanta Justice Series. \\r\\n
