Luther, DVD

I loved watching this well made movie about Martin Luther. It explains why he left the Catholic church. You will learn a lot without feeling like you're watching a documentary. There is a scene showing two men who have bern hung and an amputated arm. For that reason, I wouldn't show it to young children. Because of the high quality of the acting, costumes and sets, I think it would even appears to non-Christians as well. I will be watching it again.

The acting is believable. The film does NOT seem amateur. I feel I will enjoy watching it again a few times in the future. I felt it raised good questions about the different views of Christianity. I felt is was good for gently challenging my curiosity to ask myself questions regarding my own faith. A film that encourages you to use your brain - for a change. But without being demanding if u feel tired. I could connect with the main character. I found it inspirational and faith building. I liked the passionate intensity. I am sensitive to violence, horror, crass behaviour etc in films, but this film is ok. I like how it didn't feel like a Hollywood version. I apologise I don't know how accurate this is historically. It seems like a important film. (The casting of actors includes famous faces and without spoiling it. )

This is a very well produced movie with a great cast. Martin Luther's life is presented in a very engaging way, not only entertaining but with relevance for today. This is an excellent production. There is some violence that younger viewers would find disturbing. Overall it is highly recommended as a faithful presentation of a courageous man of God who was willing to make a stand against the religious errors of his day.
