Martin Luther Today

Martin Luther Today expands our understandings of Martin Luther and theology while also exploring Luther's significance for issues and problems of today. The four parts of the book use the rubric of "Dialogue" to focus on directions and dimensions of this important reformer. "Luther in Dialogue with Himself and Others" looks at who Luther was in relation to his struggles with his Medieval heritage, his movement from a monk to a reformer, his rejection of mysticism, and his work with colleagues toward the reformation of the church. In Part II, chapters on "Luther in Dialogue with God" examine his theological views as he interpreted Scripture and understood a number of important theological issues. Part III opens up "Luther in Dialogue with the World" as we learn what Luther said on a host of important topics including society, economics, politics and other key issues. Part IV presents the reception of Luther and his views in and beyond Europe, in the Americas, and Luther's global significance and reception in churches. The volume concludes with presentations on Luther's published works and resources for Luther studies today. The breadth and depth of this volume make it an invaluable resource for the study of Martin Luther in his own times and for our world today.Read less
