Mormonism - Magnificent Illusion

Over the years Mormons and ex-Mormons have written a spate of books debating the merits and demerits of Latter-day Saint faith and practice. What makes this ex-Mormon offering distinctive? In part, its charitable tone; in part its selection of topics (dealing particularly with the areas in which it is hardest to square Mormonism with New Testament Christianity). But most helpful of all is its recognition that the LDS are changing and will have to continue to do so as their mainstreaming into modern society continues. Most constructively of all, Bracht "re-imagines Mormonism" in ways that could allow it to keep key distinctives and yet bring it clearly into the Christian fold. This is an important contribution to a crowded field of study.
