This book turns to the example of the apostle Paul for guidance on developing a mature and intimate experience of prayer. As always, Don Carson directs readers to a close engagement with the text of Scripture, keeping the focus always on God. These studies are ideal for both individuals and groups.

God doesn't demand hectic church programs and frenetic schedules; he only wants his people to know him more intimately, says top-selling author D. A. Carson. The apostle Paul found that spiritual closeness in his own fellowship with the Father. By following Paul's example, we can do the same. This book calls believers to reject superficiality and revolutionize their lives by embracing a God-guided approach to prayer.

Previously published as *A Call to Spiritual Reformation*, this book has now been updated to connect more effectively with contemporary readers. A study guide, DVD, and leader's kit for the book are available through Lifeway and The Gospel Coalition.

    Revitalise your prayer life

This is one of the books on prayer that has revitalised my prayer life. Carson has done an excellent exegesis (as in his other books) on the prayers of Paul. Carson started with practical tips on how we improve our prayer life, and he makes the readers reflect on their prayers, whether their prayers are self-centered or Christ-centered, like Paul's prayers. Furthermore, he discusses the some of the deeper theological questions such as the common slogan like """"Prayer changes things"""" in context of God's sovereignty, i. e. if God is really sovereign, do our prayers really change things? I have really enjoyed reading this book, and would like to recommend to all Christians who want to revitalise their prayer lives.

    Best Christian book I've read.

This book totally transformed the way I think about prayer. Whether you're a 'prayer warrior' or you feel your prayer life is dry, this book is for you. All Christians should give this a read if they seek to pray like an Apostle!

    Biblical praying with paul

A call to be more biblical in our prayers by looking to examples of Paul's prayers recorded in Scripture. How often our prayers are vain and superficial and miss the mark of what true prayer is meant to be. This focuses us back to our Almighty Sovereign Father, to his will and for his glory. \\r\\nI especially enjoyed chapter 9,""""A Sovereign and Personal God"""" as I feel like this mystery is where many (including myself) have misguided thoughts which undermine not only our prayer life but our faith life. \\r\\nI would recommend this to anyone who wants to enrich their prayer life or even just wants to know what prayer is and how to pray. This book is tied to Scripture and it is a helpful guide pointing us in the right direction.

More than a """"How to pray"""" book

When I've been asked to recommend a book on prayer, I've more often than not recommended this book. \\r\\n\\r\\nDon Carson reminds us of the riches of the prayers of Paul, a man whose heart for the churches he wrote to is evident in the letters he wrote. This book is a solid encouragement and guides us in a God-honouring prayer, looking to what our brothers and sisters need the most in their walk with Christ. \\r\\n\\r\\n
