    Revealing History

This book traces out 3 influential streams of Reformed theological traditions in America: the Princeton, Dutch and Southern Presbyterian streams from their origins up until the early to mid 19 hundreds. The book has an eye-opening historical introduction written by George Marsden that looks at America's Puritan & solid Calvinistic religious founding and traces the unfolding theological trends and thoughts all the way into Fundamentalism and modern Evangelicalism. The 3 main parts to the book mentioned above each begin with an historical introduction and focus the reader upon 2 or 3 prominent theologians in that stream. Each theologian considered has an outline of their life and theological contribution followed by a critical evaluation. This title was very helpful for me to historically and biographically locate and assess many theological heroes of mine. It was well worth reading.
