Expectation. Expectation. Expectation. Disappointment. After ten years of tear-soaked prayers, repeatedly dashed hopes, and multiple failed rounds of IVF, Sheridan Voysey and his wife come to a heart-breaking conclusion?their dream of having a child is over. Empty and confused from a decade of disappointment, they leave their jobs, pack their bags, and embark on a journey in search of restoration.

Voysey chronicles their return to life. From the streets of Rome to the Basilicas of Paris, from the Alps of Switzerland to their new home in Oxford, they begin the healing process while wrestling with their doubts about God's goodness. One part spiritual memoir and one part love story, *Resurrection Year* is an honest, heart-felt book about recovering from broken dreams and reconciling with a God who is sometimes silent but never absent.

A breath of fresh air for childless and infertile Christians

From the opening sentence, this book drew me in to Sheridan's world of hope, endurance and heartbreak. Sheridan shares his search for answers in the whirlpool of childlessness and fathomless grief with candour and grace. This book does not attempt to prescribe answers, but it describes one couples' quest for answers in an impossible situation. Why does God not answer prayer? Why does God not heal? Why does God not give children to loving, Christian couples? And why does God seemingly give hope only to tear it away? Beautifully written, with powerful and emotive imagery, I found this book captivating. This is essential reading for Christians who have walked through infertility, IVF, grief, childlessness and crises of faith.

Beautiful book that shows the dream doesn't have to end

Resurrection Year tells the story of Sheridan and Merryn Voysey's 10-year journey through the wilderness of infertility. We follow them through the high and lows. While there are certainly many poignant moments, it is not a depressing read. Instead, Voysey recounts their journey with great warmth, honesty, and humour. He has a very engaging writing style that makes you want to turn the pages as he switches from narrative to journal entries to dialogue to anecdotes. \\n\\nTheir experience prompts them to ask serious questions about suffering, unanswered prayer, and the goodness of God. As they say goodbye to their dream of having children, they decide to move to England to embark on a resurrection year of new beginnings. \\n\\nAlthough this book follows a couple's battle with infertility, it would be relevant for anyone who has had to say goodbye to a dream. As Voysey notes,""""the wilderness is the ground between what was and what will be-the place between slavery and freedom, between immaturity and wisdom, between God's promise and its fulfilment, between who we were and who we are to be . . . After the wilderness comes a new beginning. """" This book is highly recommended. \\n\\n

    Fantastic memoir

I was completely drawn into this book from the very first page. The author's honesty and transparency is refreshing. Reading about how they have gotten through such a difficult time and found life continuing positively despite the obstacles is extremely encouraging.

    Read this book!

Fill your paper with the breathings of your heart' Wordsworth. Sheridan Voysey does just this in his new book 'Resurrection Year'. \\r\\nResurrection Year is a heartfelt account of a journey through disappointment with God. The longing for a child, and a reckoning of wills. This book should appeal to anyone who has ever had a broken heart or a dream so far unfulfilled. That is probably all of us. \\r\\nA much loved speaker, broadcaster and author, Sheridan gives us an intimate peek into his married life with Merryn, and their journey through their personal 'wilderness' experience. Sheridan and Merryn do not shy away from the difficult questions of life. They are not shy in approaching God with honesty and boldness. They are not shy in acknowledging disappointment. \\r\\nSheridan and Merryn entered each stage of their journey God focused and together. They honored God and each other every step of the way. Sheridan's beautiful description of their painful attempts at IVF and the harrowing application process of adoption, only to be left disappointed at each turn was devastating. \\r\\nI don't know Sheridan personally, but during the time Sheridan was writing 'Resurrection Year', I often felt prompted to pray for him and his writing. I had not been told what he was writing about, yet I sensed it was heavy emotionally and that it may have had something to do with babies and reproduction. I knew it was God breathed, and I knew I had to read it. I also knew it would sting and…

    A struggle - with hope

Wow. What a beautiful book. I couldn't put it down. All along the way I saw reflections of my own story, despite having not experience what Sheridan and his wife have. There were tears, but also lots of laughs, as I journeyed with them through their struggle with God. And even though there is no 'Hollywood ending' for this couple, their hope is renewed - with a renewed story and a renewed spirit. \\r\\nThis is a great read for anyone experiencing an unanswered prayer - whether they have the same prayer as Sheridan and Merryn, or a different one. My heart ached for them, and then was uplifted through their journey. A book filled with hope.
