The Revised New Jerusalem Bible - New Testament and Psalms (RNJB) is a revision of the the New Jerusalem Bible. Edited by Henry Wansbrough, it contains updated study notes from a Catholic perspective. For example, on Matt. 1:25, the study note states,""""This suggests nothing about future sexual relations between Mary and Joseph,"""" clearly a reference to the doctrine of Mary's perpetual virginity. The notes also reflect current scholarship. Thus, commenting on Matt. 5:1 (""""The Sermon on the Mount""""), the note states,""""Jesus gives his new law enthroned on a mountain as a second Moses. """" Throughout,""""Christ"""" is rendered as """"the Messiah. """" Gender-inclusive language is also used for the RNJB. The texts are arranged in paragraph format which make for easy reading. The paper quality used is also superb. This would be an excellent study Bible for Catholics. Non-Catholics would also do well to own a copy as the notes will help them to understand how Catholics read and understand the Scriptures.
