I really liked this book, it is part of a series but reads great as a stand alone book as well. This is the first book in the series. It held my attention with the mystery and intrigue. The characters were really easy to relate to. I love short chapters as it makes me read -just one more. . .

Well-written, Gripping Tale
Patricia Bradley has crafted an excellent story which moves along at a good pace and is populated with believable characters whom the reader can relate to and feel for - the characters' emotional and spiritual struggles are portrayed in a realistic way without sappy sentimentality. The author provides just enough clues for the discerning reader to work out key parts of the mystery, yet leaves enough surprises for the ending to be satisfying and unpredictable. A great read!

Captivating
Shadows of the past' had me hooked from page 1. Patricia built the characters in a way that had me feeling empathetic with all they went through. She created characters which had realistic experiences, and was riveting. The conclusion was far from what I had originally guessed, and was clever.
