Great overview and source for understanding the Song
The strength of Longman's work is that he provides a great introduction to the Song that sets up the framework for interpreting the text well. Also looks at its place in the Bible and its importance for Christian's today. This is well complemented by a clear and easy-to-understand unpacking of the metaphors of the Song that does not lose sight of the overall gist and feel of each poem. A worthy read for those looking to better understand the Song.
