When Noah and Josephine discover their divorce was never actually finalized, their lives are turned upside down.
Following his divorce, Noah gave up his dream job and settled at a remote horse ranch in the Blue Ridge Mountains of northern Georgia, putting much-needed distance between himself and the former love of his life. But then Noah gets a letter from the IRS claiming he and Josephine are still married. When he confronts Josephine, they discover that she missed the final step in filing the paperwork and they are, in fact, still married.
Josephine is no happier about the news than Noah. Maybe the failed marriage-and botched divorce-was her fault, but her heart was shattered right alongside his, more than he would ever believe. The sooner they put this marriage behind them, the better for both of their sakes.
But when Josephine delivers the final paperwork to his ranch, the two become stranded in his cottage during the worst spring snowstorm in a decade. Being trapped with Josephine is a test of Noah's endurance. He wrestles with resentment and an unmistakable pull to his wife-still beautiful, still brave, and still more intriguing than any woman he's ever known.
As they find themselves confronted with each other and their shared past, old wounds surface and tempers flare. But when they are forced out into the storm, they must rely on each other in a way they never have before. Josephine finally opens up about her tragic past, and Noah realizes she's never been loved unconditionally by anyone-including him. Will Noah accept the challenge to pursue Josephine's heart? And can she finally find the courage to trust Noah?

I love all of Denise Hunter's books, and this one is no different. The story is so creative and capturing, the characters are likeable and the romance very sweet. Highly recommend.

Unconditional
Denise Hunter always delivers on heartfelt romance. This book is no different. Love, it's more than feelings. Actions speak louder than words! Unconditional love requires the recognition of your own faults and forgiving the other person no matter what. Hunter shows that there is always more than underneath the surface. \\r\\n\\r\\nAlthough most of the story was set in the span on a week, it held such depth! With flashbacks to the past, I got a sense of what life was like and how Josephine and Noah complement another. Noah needs Josephine as much as she needs him. Yet God has other plans for them. This is a story about discovering who they are individually, the truth about the other person, and how they need each other.

Discovering Unconditional Love
Sweetbriar Cottage is a sweet (!) yet powerful exploration of the nature of unconditional love. It starts in the present, but has flashbacks to three and a half years ago, when Nate and Josie first met, and to Josie's childhood-the childhood she never discussed with Nate. The flashbacks gradually reveal what she did-but they also show why she did it. \\r\\n\\r\\nIt was always obvious Nate was the one who had instigated the divorce, and this got me wondering why. How can you meet, marry, and divorce in just three years? (This seems unbelievably fast, partly because I live in New Zealand where it takes at least two years to get a divorce. ) What had she done that he couldn't forgive? And why did he marry a non-Christian in the first place?\\r\\n\\r\\nIt was also obvious that Josie was one emotionally messed up woman, and that whatever she'd done was the result of her messed up teenage years (triggers!) and her subsequent belief that there is no such thing as unconditional love. Spoiler: there is. But that's something they both need to learn. \\r\\n\\r\\nI'd been a little apprehensive about reading Sweetwater Cottage, but it captured me from the beginning and never let up. A great second chance romance with some deep Christian themes. \\r\\n\\r\\nThanks to Thomas Nelson and NetGalley for providing a free ebook for review.
