A good book to stir your heart for mission. Although it gives you some good tips, the best thing about this book is explaining the """"why"""" of Christian mission. \\n\\nDickson talks about the challenge of pluralism, promoting the gospels through prayer, our money, the works of the church, our behaviour, the local church, and in our daily conversation.

most helpful book of Christian witness I've read
John Dickson has provided in The Best Kept Secret of Christian Mission the book I've been waiting for for a long time. Like many, I find evangelism really confronting. Lots of evangelism books I've read are helpful in presenting the Biblical gospel, and what people must do in order to be saved. This is great - but they then give a method, one method, that we all should use to present the gospel. But for the evangelistically weary and apprehensive, there needs to be more. And this book provides more - it encouraged me (i. e. gave me courage) to bear witness to Jesus. While it is very clear on what the gospel is, it majors on how we can connect with people, within our own personalities and gifts, not in a one method fits all mentality. It also breaks down the much debated tension of the place of social concern with our gospel proclamation. Dickson shows that these two are not competitors but friends, even allies, in bearing witness to the grace of God in and through our Lord Jesus. So helpful!
