This book seeks, in an Australian context, to provide assurance to the reader about eternal life. To achieve this the book investigates the evidence for eternal life from the Bible and contrasts such evidence with non biblical sources. Attention is given to how the Bible authenticates eternal life and how one's profession of faith brings assurance of eternal life. Then systematically the truth of eternal life is revealed by examining, the Old Testament, the Intertestamental period, the New Testament and the problematic subject of the Intermediate State. In the final two chapters the book critically evaluates non-biblical views about eternal life and concludes with a chapter titled 'Soul-searching insights' to fuel the inquisitive mind.

    """"Essential reading""""

\\r\\nReligion comforts. The belief in some 'life' after death, is comforting to many religious followers. In his book author Ronald A Train confronts this precarious topic; presenting a meticulous and well- crafted argument for the existence of something beyond physical life. Much study went into the creation of The Bridge to Eternal Life as many sources are quoted in the text and listed in footnotes. This fastidious consideration is a marvellous argument for the validity of Train's belief in eternal life. The thoroughness of Train's work is inspirational. His individual arguments are fascinating and they build together to support his belief in eternal life. It is difficult to consider any counter argument to eternal life or to doubt the existence of it, so complete is Train's interpretation of the Bible. This book should rest in the library of any person needing the comfort of life after death. \\r\\n

    A message of comfort

""""Having investigated the Bible evidence, it is my conviction that human beings will continue to exist after mortal death. """"\\r\\nDeath is a daily topic of conversation but eternal life is not, even though what lies beyond death has long fascinated humans. For the next 184 pages, Train explores eternal life, using logic that clicks as tightly and builds as sturdily as a LEGO village. Train has a solid footing as a retired Australian pastor with twenty-seven years of experience, a Master of Ministry degree, and two degrees in theology. Train writes well and conveys the bounty of his theological mind and research in a scholarly book that provides clear, Bible-based definitions of life, physical death, and spiritual death. Through well-buttressed logic, footnotes, and an extensive bibliography, he validates his belief that Jesus is the bridge between this life and eternal life, which is a comforting message of hope. \\r\\n

    A worthy library addition

The issue of eternal life or life after death is one we all ponder at some stage. In this book Ronald Train provides a Christian perspective to the issue in a concise and straight forward manner. The author notes """". . during my time in the Christian ministry, I have observed, whilst providing pastoral care to people, that some have no certainty about eternal life. . """" This book sets out to provide comfort on the issue. \\r\\n\\r\\nStarting with the twin foundations of the Bible and Faith the author examines the Old Testament data and concludes there was a general belief in life after death. He deduces from the evidence examined of the Intertestamental period of history that there was a conviction that death isn't final, hence giving credence to a belief in eternal life. By examining the New Testament record, in particular the writings of the Apostle Paul, the author reaffirms the resurrection of Jesus as central to any discussion of Eternal life. A chapter on non-biblical insights is included to provide balance, and finally, a fascinating chapter on what may await the believer on entering the Kingdom of Heaven. \\r\\n\\r\\nAfter examining the evidence the author has supported his conclusions well with extensive referencing and bibliography. The book is uncluttered with unnecessary theological argument and, as such, is an easy read. To those seeking comfort and reassurance, or indeed anyone with an enquiring mind, this book is a worthy addition to their library.
