"Spirituality involves taking our personal experience seriously as raw material for redemption and holiness, examining the material of our daily lives with as much rigor as we do Scripture and doctrine. The Confessions is the landmark work in this exercise."

    Amazing

The Confessions of Augustine are an absolute classic work that has stood the test of time. It is thoroughly astonishing how much of what he writes still holds true and resounds with our culture today, I often forgot this book is 1600 years old. However, the actually writing reminds you that it is actually this old. Be prepared to be bombarded with 'thous', 'thees' and 'hasts'. The text is also very small, which makes the book seem smaller than it actually is. It's a big one. But worth it! Sometimes it feels like mining through coal to get to gold, but there is a lot of gold in there. His insights are very wise. Just keep reading through this book, it's difficult at points, but worth it in the end.
