Comprehensive Commentary of Gospel of John.
This is an extremely thorough and detailed commentary of the Gospel according to John. For new Christians this Gospel is usually the first Gospel recommended to read. However, it is by far the longest with a large amount of detail. This commentary is probably aimed not at the new reader of the Gospels but more times at those who already have a working knowledge and want to enlarge and detail their information.

I used this commentary for the Gospel of John subject at bible college. It was one of four recommended texts and the most heavily used for my research paper and general understanding of the Gospel.

Insightful Yet Accessible
This is my favourite commentary on John's Gospel. As always, D. A. Carson is clear, penetrating, and faithful in his explanation and application of the Bible. In this commentary, he gets to the key issues and explains the important background information without getting bogged down in unnecessary minutiae. A must-read for anyone teaching through the Gospel of John.
