Jessica Dubois knows all about men. After all, men have been flocking around her for her entire life, irresistibly attracted to her beautiful face and glorious red hair. Jessica never met a single one she couldn't wrap around her little finger.

When she first meets Clay Cole, Jessica assumes he will fall in line with the other adoring men around her. To her amazement, though, Clay seems immune to her charms. He sees straight through them, and she is furious. But when Jessica and Clay both want to adopt the same orphaned child, Jessica assumes the obvious solution is for them to marry. Clay, however, makes it clear that he would never dream of marrying someone as selfish as Jessica. In fact, he's not sure Jessica is even a good influence for a young child.
