Focused on a career in medicine and not on romance, Willa Duvall is thrown slightly off course during the summer of 1859 when she discovers a never-opened love letter in a crack of her old writing desk. Compelled to find the passionate soul who penned it and the person who never received it, she takes a job as a nurse at the seaside estate of Crestwicke Manor.

Everyone at Crestwicke has feelings--mostly negative ones--about the man who wrote the letter, but he seems to have disappeared. With plenty of enticing clues but few answers, Willa's search becomes even more complicated when she misplaces the letter and it passes from person to person in the house, each finding a thrilling or disheartening message in its words.

Laced with mysteries large and small, this romantic Victorian-era tale of love lost, love deferred, and love found is sure to delight.

    I loved it

This book has all the elements for a great, yet unique, historical romance. I absolutely loved how genuine faith is woven into the story. The main character is refreshingly strong willed and I really liked her journey throughout the book. In a time when marriages of convenience were common, this search for genuine love is refreshing. Would definitely recommend, and 100% read again.

    A great story

And interesting story with plenty of plots. The main POV is first person, but almost all the other characters in the story have a scene or two in third person. On occasions I found that a bit complicated, and not everyone gets a happily ever after. However, everyone gets a second chance/at least hopeful ending. So that was good. I really like the main characters, and even the glimpse into other people could be enlightening. However, I think I would have preferred to have less POVs. Maybe just the main couple and her patient which is why I knocked off a star. The rest of the story is great though and very immersive. I loved the quote right at the end. Never heard it, but how true it is! The best love to pursue is God's.

    Highly Recommended

I loved this book, I love this Author, she is so great at weaving a story together. It was such a lovely story following different people along their journey of love and heartbreak. I loved the ending. Everything about this book was enchanting and easy to get lost in.

    Master Storyteller

Another fabulous book by Politano, I'm reading my way through her collection. The Love Note was a great read where interestingly for me the story was the hero and the main event, not the characters. I love the storytelling, the intrigue, the mystery and imperfect people. I find Politano to be a master storyteller and she has become one of my favourite authors.
