    Essential Reading

This, in my view, is a very important book for all Christians to read. For one thing, the author, Amy-Jill Levine, very rightly reminds us that Jesus' background was Jewish. His worldview, his teachings and his methods were all Jewish. Hence, to understand Jesus rightly and by extension also the New Testament, we must reckon with the Jewishness of Jesus. For another thing, this book would serve as a very important bridge in Christian-Jewish dialogues. Highly recommended!

Fascinating Read: Will Open Up Interfaith Dialogue

This is a fabulous and much-needed book that speaks to Jews and Christians alike. \\r\\n\\r\\nAmy-Jill is a Jewish New Testament scholar (which is itself worthy of buying) who opens scripture and unpacks the Jewishness of Jesus - something Christians actually know very little about. \\r\\n\\r\\nHer insights are poignant and lasting. Her recommendations for interfaith dialogue are commendable. \\r\\n\\r\\nShe does not believe that Jesus is the Son of God but this should not deter you from understanding more about Jesus and Judaism. . . and how Christianity can be unintentionally offensive and what can be done to rectify this. \\r\\n\\r\\nI highly recommend this book for pastors, small group leaders and anyone else who has teaching responsibilities.
