The Amish Beginnings series by Suzanne Woods Fisher is a wonderful blend of Amish and historical genres. Book 2, The Newcomer, continues the story of the Amish immigrants settling in to the new colony. Some years have passed since Anna and Bairn arrived in the new colony, and this could have easily slipped into one of those cases of the second-book-slump in interest. However, a mysterious newcomer arrives, adding many plot-twists to the story, making it fast-paced, and hard to put down. I'll be fascinated to see how the story ends in the next book. Make sure you read the whole series in order, although there would be some pleasure in isolated reading of this story.
