    Primer on the Westminster Confession

The Westminster Confession was published in 1646 in Britain, and many commentaries have been written on it since. This was penned by an American presbyterian A A Hodge the son of the famous Charles Hodge in the latter 18 hundreds. He taught systematic theology at both Allegheny and Princeton Seminaries and was considered one of the greatest teachers America has ever produced. Patton wrote of him,""""His thought and learning were those of a genius and a saint, and he occupies a unique position among his peers. He held the Reformed theology as a sacred trust. He defended it with zeal, taught it with enthusiasm, and reflected it in his life"""" (from insert). This commentary is valuable because it was written over 2 centuries after the original document in a world quite different. It comes just prior to the the turn of the 20th century when a lot of changes will be afoot in the Christian theological world.
