Marianne Neumann has one goal in life: to find her lost younger sister, Sophie. When Marianne takes a job as a placing agent with the Children's Aid Society in 1858 New York, she not only hopes to give children a better life but seeks to discover whether Sophie ended up leaving the city on an orphan train.

Andrew Brady, her fellow agent on her first placing trip, is a former schoolteacher who has an easy way with the children--firm but tender and funny. Underneath his handsome charm, though, seems to linger a grief that won't go away--and a secret from his past that he keeps hidden. As the two team up placing orphans amid small railroad towns in Illinois, they find themselves growing ever closer ... until a shocking tragedy threatens to upend all their work and change one of their lives forever.

    Heartfelt Story

This heartfelt story continues with Marianne, Elise's sister, as she embarks on a journey helping orphaned children to find new homes. As a placing agent with the Children's Aid Society, Marianne discovers that finding homes for these orphaned children can be challenging. The story captures this brilliantly, that in the midst of the joys for caring for these children, there are ups and downs, that give you a glimpse of the emotions and fear these children must have experienced. While on the trip, a heartwarming romance between her and Drew, the other placing agent, evolves beautifully. However a tragedy that tears them apart, engages the reader with some tension and suspense that will keeps you interested to find out what will happen. Readers will be moved by Marianne's journey of discovering herself while embracing a new kind of courage instead of always blaming herself for the past. This is a heartfelt and moving story of love, redemption and hope.

    Does not disappoint!

Jody Hedlund does not disappoint in the 2nd book of the Orphan Train Series. We are introduced to Marianne in the 1st book and to be honest, I wasn't sure I would like her character in this 2nd book. However, Jody Hedlund does a wonderful job explaining why Marianne made her choices and you can't help but like her from the beginning. She and a man called Drew, take a group of Orphan children west from NY to find new homes. The history was eye-opening, as we read about children """"picked"""" by families to live with them. The author does a wonderful job of writing about the children and their thoughts in this process. A very romantic and cheeky adventure between the Marianne and Drew. A few little twists that keep the book in your hands, wanting to read more. I enjoyed Elise having a role in this book and can't wait to see what happens in number 3 and if Reinhold turns up in the pages again!!

    Great Sequel!

Together forever was a great sequel to the first book in this series, it had an engaging plot, with an expected twist about halfway through. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who has read the first! Can't wait for No. 3 to come out! (:
