I was interested in the dating vs courtship debate, so read this book. Debra gives some excellent advice although of course, I don't agree with all of it. I would reverse her order and put our relationship God first, rather than """"dating"""" ourselves first. She says that since the Bible says we are fearfully and wonderfully made = I am wonderful. A silversmith could make an exquisite key chain but that means the workmanship is wonderful but the key chain is just a key chain. Going around telling myself that I am wonderful, I don't think is helpful. To me """"dating"""" and """"courtship"""" are just a matter of semantics. A person can date with a selfish attitude and court with a selfish attitude which spoils both. In just over 2 weeks, I will have been married for 36 years. My husband is who I need and I am doing what does not at all suit my introverted personality, in a place I never imagined being. But if I was doing what was comfortable, surrounded by my family and friends . . . the temptation would be to rely on myself rather than be forced to rely on God. I hope this book encourages young people to seek God's direction in life.
