Worship leader and songwriter Kristene DiMarco turns a new page with the release of her vibrant album, Where His Light Was. This project marks her first release as an artist with Bethel Music, and her fourth career release to date. For Kristene, this album stands as a beacon, representing life lessons and revelation uncovered across the last 10 years of her life. Penned into 11 songs, the album's axis is one of remembrance; exploring the way God illuminates our past and difficult seasons when we encounter His perspective and hear His voice.

The album is bright and carefree, yet rich in meaning; articulated as one who has apprehended clarity through choosing to face fear head on. DiMarco's vocals are, in one moment, tender and nuanced and full of conviction and resolve in the next. The anthemic "Hope is Alive" centers around Jesus' resurrection as the One not only alive, but now alive in us as the hope of glory. Inspired by the story of Jehoshaphat in 2 Chronicles 20, "Take Courage" (featured on Bethel Music's Starlight) reminds believers that seasons of waiting are not in vain and that the Lord truly fights on our behalf. The piano-driven ballad "I Just Wanna Worship" is a thankful heart cry for closer communion with Jesus. "No Victim" is a song of newfound identity and what Romans 12 means by a renewed mind; 'I am who He says I am, He is who He says He is / I'm defined by all His promises, shaped by every word He says.' Where His Light Was imparts confidence in worshipers to recognize our redemptive, hope-filled God as the lamp to our feet and the light to our path.

    All Right

There are a couple of good songs like """"Fear Not"""" but I found the production to be a bit whittled down in such a way that it was hard to engage with it. The sound seemed hedged in. So I don't listen to it very much.

""""Where His Light Was"""" Album Review

Overall, the entire album is a pleasure to listen to, mainly carried by Kristene DiMarco's controlled delivery. Every song is also treated differently, with different elements applied within each song, which can sometimes over-complicate songs and distract the listener. The good news is DiMarco has found the right balance, which combined with the sincere lyrics, make for an excellent worshiplistening experience.

    AMAZING

I love every single track!!! Kristene has such a beautiful voice, and this album pairs her stunning vocals with powerful,soul-inspiring lyrics. 'Fear Not' and 'I Am No Victim' have to be my favourite tracks - they are uniquely empowering and encouraging. I really cannot recommend this worship album enough!

    Great album

I don't know Kristene Dimarco well but I love her song 'It Is Well'. I thought I'll give this new album a listen and I'm glad to say that it's a solid album with a good mix of songs. The songs are melodious and there's a quiet strength conveyed in all of the songs. . . My favourite songs from the album are Take Courage and Never Ever. I highly recommend this album. :)
