Gems of wisdom strung like pearls one after the other - suitable gift for non Christians also

I read this book twice. I would have given it five stars, however it did come across a little more motivational speakerself help rather than modelling the prayerful consideration of calling and waiting upon the Spirit that I was looking for at this point in my life. The author's assertions appear supported by personal testimony and careful Godly reflection rather than specific scriptures. Mind you, the upside is that this book would be appropriate to give to non Christians looking for purpose; it weaves enough matter of fact testimony of Christian mission ethic and compassion to challenge anyone to see the purpose of life as bigger than just themselves. You can't help but evaluate who you are, why you are here and how you can step outside your self interests. \\r\\nThe book provides wisdom for whatever life stage you are in; whether it is time to commit, time to bear fruit, time to walk away, time to mentor others etc. \\r\\nThere were countless gems that resonated with the core of my very being. Having been a missionary who had to return to Australia some years ago due to illness I know what it is like to have been wonderfully wrecked by third world brokenness and then left wondering what God had planned next during a long recovery. As I now look towards a new ministry in a new town this book has provided pivotal and timely wisdom. I imagine you will be likewise blessed.
