The bestselling author of the Sacred Diaries presents church newsletters that explore the intriguing world of parish life with humour and compassion. From struggling obituaries and blinkered book reviews to subtly vindictive reports on Ladies' Circle meetings, Plass' latest release is a must for all students of that most fascinating study of all - real life. From Marshall Morgan

Another likely best-seller from Adrian Plass, A Year at St Yorick's will do for the Church of England what the Sacred Diary of Adrian Plass did for charismatic Christians. Remember the Sacred Diarist trying to take spiritual authority over a paper clip? This time Adrian Plass turns his satirical yet affectionate eye on the Church of England, in this spoof collection of monthly parish magazines which lampoons the life of a fictional rural parish. These are tempestuous times for the Church of England (the Toronto Blessing, the ongoing rumbles about disestablishment, the debate about monarchy, divorce and the state), and as ever Adrian's humour is full of wisdom and compassion as well as wild irreverence.

Fun Satirical Look at the Church

This humorous book takes the format of fictitious monthly newsletters from the Anglican Church of St Yorick's. Adrian Plass has a great eye for satire, bringing the ability to laugh at ourselves while also providing some food for thought. As the book is written as newsletters, you could dip in and read bits and pieces you're interested in. However, you'll get more if you start at the beginning and read it like a novel, as some of the 'news' items carry over. If you've been involved in church circles for a while, you'll find lots to smile at in this book. If you enjoyed the 'Sacred Life of Adrian Plass' books, you would also enjoy this one. Definitely something to smile about.
