Matthew Henry
Matthew Henry (1662–1714) was an English Presbyterian minister, pastor, and Bible commentator whose writings have influenced generations of Christians. He is best known for his extensive Commentary on the Whole Bible, valued for combining careful explanation of Scripture with devotional insight and practical application. Henry wrote with particular emphasis on Christian character, prayer, family worship, obedience, and applying biblical truth to everyday life. His commentary remains widely used by pastors, teachers, students, and devotional readers more than three centuries after its publication. Henry also wrote extensively on prayer, encouraging Christians to shape their prayers around the language, promises, and teachings of Scripture.
