Edited by Ligon Duncan. True prayer comes from the heart, so why do we need a method? The great devotional commentator and pastor shows here that Christians benefit from discipline just as much as talking freely with God. A Valuable Tool for Prayer

In this book Matthew Henry takes hundreds of verses from the Bible and creates prayers based off them. I find praying through Scripture helps to focus my mind on God, and it helps me to know the things that I should be praying for. You don't have to use every single prayer in the book each time you pray (there are a lot!). But start just by incorporating a few into each section of your own prayers. After a while, you may find (as I have) that you want to use more and more Scripture in your prayers, because it is so useful. Matthew Henry has done the hard work in creating Biblical prayers for you to use. I would highly recommend this book!
