    A Robin Hood twist

I thoroughly enjoyed this twist on the folk story of Robin Hood. In this story the female main character is strong, caring and starting to question whether stealing to feed the poor is the right thing to do. She encounters Colin (a knight from the previous book in the series) which challenges how she views the upper class. This book made me laugh out loud, be on the edge of my seat and nearly cry. The parallels to Jesus' sacrifical love as well as the suspense and action-filled side plot made this book definitely one I could reread again and again over the coming years.

    Medieval drama and romance

After being intrigued (by the story) but slightly nauseated (by the gruesome torture scenes) with the first book of this series, I debated reading this one for a while before hesitantly starting. I needn't have hesitated. I loved it, from the first page, especially the relationship and the banter back and forth between the two main characters. There was description of medieval torture but far less than the first book, thankfully!\\r\\n\\r\\nThe only thing I did find frustrating was the constant switching back and forth between the two main characters - both told in first person. It occasionally took a few paragraphs to figure out who was telling the story. \\r\\n\\r\\nAll in all, though, a really delightful story with great descriptions of medieval life, love and the strength of family - both blood and those we choose for ourselves. Definitely a book I'll enjoy reading again. \\r\\n
