    A really slow paced story

The testimony of Christian Franz Jagerstatter is truely a story of the power of God to bring inner-peace and courage when the world around him is full of evil and death. \\nI gave this movie a 3 star rating as the movies' pacing is really slow and plays to a style that I didn't find engaging. I never remember hearing Jesus spoke of and so I feel like it plays more to religion, then Christ. The story is very confronting and very different to a classic 'hero's journey', which might not be enjoyable for most. It has value but watch a trailer first.

    Real events, strong conviction

I've sat with this review for a number of days as while the telling of the choices of Farmer and devout Christian Franz Jagerstatter, this movie also shows the heavy weight of his convictions on his wife and for his children. \\nFranz refuses to fight for the Nazis in World War II and is imprisoned for Treason. While facing the attempt to break him and likely execution for Treason his faith, a friend and his love for his family keep him going. His family also carries the weight of his decision as they are shunned within their community. With only she sister to help work the farm and care for the children, his wife continues to turn to God, even when Church is in the fields, and shows kindness to the few that will accept her generosity and presence. A stirring telling of Franz and his family. Not light watching and maybe not for young ones as there is the evidence of violence.
