A Little Boy After God's Own Heart

I was given this book as a gift for my then very young son. He's now 2 plus, and is probably still more interested in the train and other illustrations than the words itself, but this book is definitely a keeper. I have used the illustrations themselves to explain to my son each concept being taught in the book, but the words in the books are also very powerful. This book relates the fruit of the spirit in a way that makes sense to active boys, and is beautifully written and illustrated. I have not seen the equivalent version for little girls, but I imagine it's worth checking out too.

My son is really into trains, and he loves this book. He delights in reciting the Fruit of the Spirit while tracing the train carriages with his finger. The poetic text is a little over his head (he's 3) and the book definitely has an American flavour (seasons and Thanksgiving) but it is all about boys and he loves it and is certainly learning from it!
