    Useful reference

This is a useful introduction to each book of the Old Testament from an evangelical perspective. It helpfully outlines each book and gives background information and explains major themes. One weakness is that it can be uneven. The chapters on some books of the Bible are extremely clear and well-explained, whereas others seem to focus on minor details and fail to clearly explain the main message of the biblical book. Overall this is an excellent book to use alongside other reference works on the Old Testament.

    A Very Good Read

This is one of my all time favourite books. The information in this book is amazing. It covers all the books of the Hebrew bible and goes in-depth into historical critical interpretation. There are many references to top scholarly books that are used and many sections that cover authorship, date, interpretation and so on. The book is big but its very lightweight, I personally love this book.
