    Inspiring Accounts of Medical Drama

This is a fast-moving book of real-life dramas set in a hospital emergency, through the eyes of a doctor who has served in that arena for a quarter of a century. As one might expect, the stories are as widely varied as the patients, their backgrounds and what has brought them to the ER on any given day. While a number of them are familiar to the department because of the frequency of their needs to be hospitalised, their visits are characteristically of a relatively short duration. The longer-term care, if there is to be any, will be the responsibility of others. Thus, one of the features of many of these stories is that the doctor often doesn't get to see the outcome of his encounters. Nevertheless, he obviously has a strong sense of ministry in the midst of attending to the individual needs of those whom his department are called upon to assess and respond to each day. Even these brief encounters in such a dramatic and emotional environment give plenty of opportunities for having an eternal influence on an individual in some small way, particularly when a doctor approaches their work with a compassionate heart and a desire to serve God through their work. There are several stories of individuals who represent """"the least of these my brethren"""" of whom Jesus spoke. Many accounts are moving and relate to life's most profound experiences and insights. Well worth reading!
