Watching this made me want to read the book Silver Birches by Adrian Plass, on which the film is based. I wonder if some of the really deep issues would feel better dealt with if I read them over the days it would take me to read, with mulling time between reading sessions. The film, being only an hour and a half, seemed to rush into deep issues and rush the resolutions. David lost his wife six months ago and then receives an invitation to a reunion. With only forty-eight hours together, the old friends bare their souls and face some ugly truths about each other and themselves. Not exactly a feel-good movie, although it could be a very useful discussion starter in a Bible study or Home fellowship group.
