With so much confusion about the role of men in our society, it's no wonder so many parents and teachers are asking questions about how to bring up boys. Why are so many boys in crisis? What qualities should we be trying to instill in young males? Our culture has vilified masculinity and, as a result, an entire generation of boys is growing up without a clear idea of what it means to be a man. In the runaway bestseller *Bringing Up Boys*, Dr. Dobson draws from his experience as a child psychologist and family counselor, as well as extensive research, to offer advice and encouragement based on a firm foundation of biblical principles. (This new edition is part of Dr. James Dobson's Building A Family Legacy initiative.)

Raising your little man in a different world

This book goes deep; it is insightful, thoughtful, practical and funny as well. Understanding how the macro-culture shapes the micro culture within the family is important. Bringing up boys needs a different approach from girls as they are wired differently. Worth a read to understand why things work and don't , especially in our modern world. The world we lived in as kids is very different to the world our kids currently live in. Interesting read.

    Great, so far!

\\r\\nThe book is unapologetically traditional in it's view of the roles of men and women, particularly in the context of raising children, focusing on boys here. While this may raise eyebrows or even incite hostility in our post-modern, anything goes society informed mainly by gossip magazine psychology, it will pay huge dividends to hear the authors justification along with referenced studies. He is quite understanding and sorry for the state of our current culture, and empathizes with the same throughout the book as the majority of families today do not fit the ideal nuclear structure he presents. Maybe read it with a grain of salt but don't miss the gems laden throughout, as the premise of """"shaping the next generation of men"""" is instrumental!
