Great place to start for church history

This was one of the text book for church history when I attended Bible college. I found it to be very readable and interesting, almost like reading a commentary of developments in the church. The book covers church history from New Testament times right through to the last century. Given the large scope, the author has stuck to the core developments in church doctrine, politics and geography. I found it useful in my studies and I enjoyed reading it again after completing my studies. The inclusion of maps, diagrams and pictures also helped in clarifying and elaborating on a number of points. An excellent introductory text.
