Comfort Zone: A 40-Day Devotional on the Father of All Comfort

Comfort Zone by Nola Lorraine, is a 40-day devotional focusing on God, the Father of all comfort. The format for each day is a key verse from Scripture, followed by a longer reading, then a reflection, prayer and a couple of application questions. The book is well-formatted and attractive, making it easy to read, with about four pages per day. It’s long enough to allow for meaningful contemplation but short enough to easily fit into your day.

I particularly enjoyed the personal stories that Nola included to explain her thoughts. She has faced many challenges over her life and writes with empathy and authenticity. Many of these devotions are quite moving and a great source of encouragement that God is with us through the disappointments and discouragements of life. There are also a few devotions that remind us to pass on the blessings that we’ve received from God, but mostly the emphasis is on receiving God’s love, comfort, grace, and support. God doesn’t promise us a life without difficulties but rather that he will be to us, the Father of all Comfort.

Overall an encouraging, insightful, and well-written book.
