Sold into slavery by her father and forsaken by the man she was supposed to marry, young Egyptian Kiya must serve a mistress who takes pleasure in her humiliation. When terrifying plagues strike Egypt, Kiya is in the middle of it all.

To save her older brother and escape the bonds of slavery, Kiya flees with the Hebrews during the Great Exodus. Loved it!

I hadn't heard of this author before, but was intrigued by the historical setting in which it takes place. What a wonderful find! I really enjoyed feeling like I had stepped back in time to when the 10 plagues of Egypt were happening and what it must have felt like to be caught up in it all.

    A Beautiful Book

This is an awesome book that paints me vivid pictures that seem to come alive. I have read this book for a total of 20 times this year alone…. I now can recite parts of it in my sleep! It’s fairly accurate in the biblical sense and in the time period too. If I could rate it higher then 5 stars it would be a 10 from me!

Absolutely incredible, couldn't more highly recommend

Wow! This book was incredible. I loved the way the author told one of the most well-known stories in the Bible-the Hebrews' exodus out of Egypt/plagues-from the point of view of a non-Hebrew. Kiya's story had me absolutely captivated from the first page to last as she battled with understanding not only who the Hebrews' God was and what he was doing but her value as a woman-and the fact that she even had value-because of him. Absolutely beautiful and one that had me sitting in awe of God and his incredible love, power, grace and hugeness long after I'd finished the book. Highly recommend.

    6 stars!

Loved every bit of this book!! Am now reading the next two. I particularly loved how it brought the story of Egypt alive in a new way and showed how personal an attack the plagues were on Egypt. I loved the imperfect main character, I loved the journey of discovering God's character that she went on. Loved it all so much. Easily my new favourite author!

    Highly Recommended!

I enjoyed this book from beginning to end. I don't read a lot of biblical fiction however this book has me wanting to explore more of this genre. When I've tried reading biblical fiction in the past I found it can get bogged down in and almost focused entirely on the setting instead of the characters and lost the story telling. Not so with this book, the story telling was wonderful and I really got to know the characters. Can't wait to read the other books in the series. Highly recommend.
