    helpful survey and introduction

This first book begins by laying down the foundation for the series. The introduction argues that there are only two kinds of religions in the world: those (or, the one) based on God's revelation, and those based on man's ideas. (Hodge Patterson say something stronger--'there are two religions in the world') The first three chapters than examine God's religion--Christianity--and how its to be defended; readers interested in any part of this series should at least have a look at these chapters. The rest of the book then looks at counterfeits of Christianity: Roman Catholicism, Eastern Orthodoxy, etc. Those interested in a (non-exhaustive) survey of the counterfeits may read the rest of the book in order; those interested in a particular group may simply read the relevant chapter without loss of continuity. The appendices go into a particular topic: how to defend the doctrine of the trinity. It will be observed from the survey that many counterfeits of Christianity hold some heterodox trinitarian view; the appendices will help with engaging the relevant groups on this point.
