Paul David Tripp exposes the spiritually unhealthy culture that has developed around our pastors; a culture that actively undermines their wellbeing and efficacy. Tripp offers solid strategies for building a culture of accountability and support around pastors, one that will benefit the whole church body.

After traveling the world for many years and speaking in hundreds of churches of all kinds, Paul David Tripp is concerned about the state of pastoral culture. He's concerned about not only the spiritual life of the pastor, but about the people who train him, call him, relate to him, and restore him if necessary. *Dangerous Calling* reveals that the culture surrounding our pastors is spiritually unhealthy-an environment that actively undermines the well-being and efficacy of our church leaders, and thus the entire church body. Here is a book that both diagnoses and offers cures for issues that impact every church member and leader, and gives solid strategies for fighting the war that rages not only in the most memorable moments of ministry, but also in the mundane day-to-day life of every pastor.

A must have for all pastors

if you want a sugar coated message, this book is not for you. Paul Tripp is brutely honest about ministry and does so from a place of love for pastors. As someone who has only been in ministry a short time I am so grateful to have this book. It will expose the issues facing those in ministry and the condition of you heart. Be warned, this book will make you cling to the grace of Christ more and more. I highly recommend this book to all involved in ministry.

Challenging but greatly beneficial for effective ministry

Tripp offers a great wealth of wisdom and knowledge in this book. He offers advice on effective long-term ministry and sustainable practices, which has personally been very beneficial. Expect to be challenged and to grow.

Must read for anyone in ministry

This is a brilliant book by Tripp that shows the problems with pastoral cultural today and exposes the deep (and often hidden) sins in the heart of pastors and others who are in ministry. Thankfully, Tripp doesn't leave readers sitting in their guilt and sorrow, but points pastors and leaders to their desperate need of the gospel daily and gives helpful practical solutions safeguards. \\r\\n\\r\\nI could not recommend this book more highly for anyone in ministry, whether its the seasoned pastor, the seminary student or someone who leads bible study once in a while.

    Challenging Thought-provoking

Found this book to really cut to the heart. For those considering full-time ministry or already involved in doing ministry at church, I highly recommend this book. It speaks of the expectations in ministry, and the real and raw feelings we will have to face in the role. Challenging and honest when it comes to the real hardships of the ministry, yet also inspiring and encouraging as Tripp points us to the great and gracious Shepherd we serve. Very thankful that I was given this book to read and how it ministered to me.

Personally challenging for anyone in ministry

I can't recommend this book more. This isn't the kind of light and fluffy book you read to feel good, but if you're wanting to be challenged on matters of character, of heart, of direction and purpose and to bring the way you do things more into line with God's word, then this is for you. It is the kind of no-nonsense book that gets straight to the point and raises issues of utmost importance in personal life and ministry in a very personally challenging way. Loved it. \\r\\n\\r\\n
