I am a true fan of Naomi Reed. I originally bought this book as a birthday present for a friend. But then as I was leaving for Darwin I grabbed it to have a book to read while away. In Darwin (having not finished reading it) I felt I should give this book to a friend who was heading home to Sydney as she had been asking questions about faith. When I came home to Perth, Koorong was having a sale and I bought this book again to give as the birthday present. When we arrived home from Koorong my husband mentioned that now we don't have a copy to read ourselves. So I bought one on line before the sale finished!! It came in 3 days which was amazing. Then I remembered it was my sister's birthday at the end of June and I needed something else for her present, so I popped Naomi's book in and we sent that off. So now we are back to not having a book to finish reading. Here we come Koorong!!!! All in all what I have read it is certainly an encouraging book to read and great for 'followers' and 'not yet' followers of Jesus. It's amazing to see God at work in people's lives and making His glory known across Australia and the world.
Saw Naomi speak recently at a christian womens conference in Blayney. She has a wonderful gift for telling stories. This book is incredibly immersive. At first it wasn't quite what I expected, thinking it would just be back to back stories, but what Naomi has created is so much more. The stories are grouped well with short writings by Naomi in-between each one so they flow into each other so beautifully.
A fascinating read from the lovely Naomi Reed, who collected stories of finding faith or of God's intervention at crisis times. One of the stories is of my husband's near death experience during a cardiac arrest. The 300 snapshots of ordinary people meeting an extraordinary God touch the heart and will encourage the reader and inspire reflection on personal faith.
Namoi Reed has written many books. As an Aussie this book was particularly encouraging. As we live in a country whose laws and attitudes are moving further away from God's design, it is encouraging to read of the ways that Abba is working in the lives of ordinary Aussies. All over the country, Jesus is speaking to the lost and bringing them home- the young, the old, those with church backgrounds and those who have had little or no exposure to the Truth. This is a book you can pick up and put down or sit and read for long periods.
