"In stunningly beautiful prose and poetry, Jackie Hill Perry invites us into her story of redemption, finding God and his grace in the midst of gender confusion and homosexuality. She bravely invites us into her transformation at an important cultural moment, showing us both how to fight our own temptations and also how to think about identity. Courageous yet compassionate, bold without being brash, she has provided the church with the gift of seeing and worshiping the Savior who not only saves but also transforms."

"I used to be a lesbian."
In *Gay Girl, Good God*, author Jackie Hill Perry shares her own story, offering practical tools that helped her in the process of finding wholeness. Jackie grew up fatherless and experienced gender confusion. She embraced masculinity and homosexuality with every fiber of her being. She knew that Christians had a lot to say about all of the above. But was she supposed to change herself? How was she supposed to stop loving women, when homosexuality felt more natural to her than heterosexuality ever could?
At age nineteen, Jackie came face-to-face with what it meant to be made new. And not in a church, or through contact with Christians. God broke in and turned her heart toward Him right in her own bedroom in light of His gospel.
Read in order to understand. Read in order to hope. Or read in order, like Jackie, to be made new.

Gay Girl, Good God: The Story of Who I Was, and Who God Has Always Been$24.99
Reading this book blessed me deeply. Jackie ends her Introduction with “This work is my worship unto God that, with prayer, I hope will leave you saying, “God is so good!” This attitude was unmistakable throughout. I walked away from each sitting with so much praise in my heart!
The book is organized in three parts:
Part 1: Who I Was- tells about Jackie’s life before salvation
Part 2: Who I Became- details the changes that took place as she began to obey God and the discipleship she experienced.
Part 3: Same-Sex Attraction AND…- instructs readers about how to view and help Same-Sex Attracted people, including other Christians.
One of Jackie’s great talents and loves is poetry. I often found myself stopping to ponder more deeply simply because she used poetic language that I hadn’t understood on the first read. Sometimes it frustrated me to be slowed down, but most of the time I appreciated it for better expressing the beauty of the truth.

Insightful, Educational and Poetic
I read this book to gain understanding on same sex attraction and delivered above and beyond what I hoped to gain from reading this book.
Jackie Hill Perry is a talented and experienced poet and that is made clear in the way she beautifully crafts a captivating retelling of her testimony and views on homosexuality as a born again believer.
If you are either, someone struggling with same sex attraction or someone who wants to grow in their understanding and empathy for same sex attracted people, then I highly recommend this book!

Informative and Moving
I read this wanting to understand and lean into a person who has life experience in the challenging area of same sex and """"other"""" gender sexual desire. It did not disappoint. I love the poetry and sound Biblical teaching throughout. I highly recommend if you want to become informed and become more empathetic and loving in your witness.

Ok
I quite liked this book. I really enjoyed hearing about Jackie's conversion and think the story about how she encountered God was really authentic. I enjoyed the 'teaching' section towards the end less and it was a bit hard to follow. I would have preferred to have heard more about her story rather than have the teaching part. Most born again Christians would get something out of this.
