Sixty-six books written by forty people over nearly 2,000 years, in two languages and several different genres. A worldwide bestseller published in countless sizes and bindings, translations and languages. It has been sworn by in court, fought over by religious people, quoted in arguments. The Bible is clearly no ordinary book. How can we begin to read and understand it as a whole?
In his excellent overview, Vaughan Roberts gives the big picture - showing how the different parts of the Bible fit together under the theme of the kingdom of God. He gives us both the encouragement and the tools to read it with confidence and understanding. He points us to the Bible's supreme subject, Jesus Christ, and the salvation God offers through him. ***-Publisher.***

The Bible is not a random collection of 66 books, and reading each passage in the context of God’s Big Picture is an essential skill for understanding and interpreting God’s Word. I appreciated Vaughan’s clear and simple presentation of the big story of the Bible.

A Great Intro to Reading and Understanding the Bible
This is a great book to help you read and understand the Bible for yourself. It's especially strong and helping you make sense of the Old Testament, showing you how the whole Bible is a book about Jesus. The accompanying studies are a fairly straightforward, and are a good foundation to build your own study course on. I remember that I was given this as a gift in my first year out of school, and it has been foundational ever since for how I read and understand the Scriptures.

A Key Discipleship Tool
Bouncing off Graeme Goldsworthy, Roberts provides an easy to understand approach to the Bible's storyline. I strongly believe that giving people a handle on the Bible as a coherent whole makes a paradigm shifting different in discipleship and Roberts' explanation is the most accessible out there.

A Must-Read for any Christian wanting to understand the Bible better
This book is an amazing foundational resource for any Christian who wants to get a big picture overview of the Bible. It provides a simple (yet not simplistic) explanation at how each biblical book fits together to form the big book of the Bible, and gives readers the background knowledge required to understand each individual biblical passage at a deeper level. I couldn't recommend this book more - it's definitely a resource I will continue revisiting on my shelf!

Great overview of the Bible
This book is easy to read and very helpful. The author helps us understand the overarching theme of the Bible, that is the Kingdom of God using very good illustrations. The epilogue was also very helpful for me as it helps me how Old Testament and New Testament relates to one another, and how to gain insight from reading the Bible. I would greatly recommend this book for every Christian that wants to study the Bible.
