GRIEVE UPWARDS - One Man's Journey Through the Valley is mainly autobiographical. This book contains valuable keys on pre-grieving, navigating the journey with a God who promises healing, guarantees death and illustrates how nothing takes our all-knowing Father by surprise. Rather than submissively allowing grief to 'happen' to us, the author inspires people to take charge of their grief journey through wisdom, understanding and helpful relationships. GRIEVE UPWARDS deals with questions often wrestled with during grief. How do males grieve different to females? How do you avoid falling into temptation? How can you find love second time around? When are you ready for a new relationship? How can you trust God again? It concludes with the encouragement to begin writing the next chapter of your life. WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING ABOUT THIS BOOK: - MARK RAMSEY, Senior Pastor, Citipointe Church, Brisbane, Australia: The best book I have ever read about dealing with grief. THE RIGHT REVEREND RICHARD HURFORD, OAM, Retired Anglican Bishop, State Chaplain for St John Ambulance NSW, Australia: GRIEVE UPWARDS is one of the most authentic, lucid, relevant and passionate books on responding to death and grief l have ever read. PHIL PRINGLE, Founder & President of 3Ci Global: This book is both hopeful and helpful. I know you'll be blessed as you read it. DAVID MCDONALD, Senior Minister, Empower Church, Sydney, Australia: GRIEVE UPWARDS gives amazing insights into the journey of grief... David's personal testimony will inspire you. Take the principles in this book and put them to work in your own circumstances.

This little book is packed full of so many wise insights into the whole process of grieving and of learning, in time, to move on in a healthy way. The author, David Schaeffer, shares his own experiences of walking through deep grief and loss in an honest and heartfelt manner, while at the same time acknowledging each person's journey is different. This book would be particularly useful for men, with its practical, down-to-earth tone and no-nonsense style. Relevant, Biblical input is shared in a gentle, sensitive way, thus making the book accessible to Christian and non-Christian alike. By writing with such honesty about his own grief process, the author also gives great insight into how best to help someone in a time of grief-for example, by giving the person permission to talk about their loved one through questions such as 'Tell me about . . . '. Grieve Upwards does not shrink from tackling the big questions that can arise during a time of deep grief, including sexual temptation, guarding against making unwise financial decisions and taking the big step of finding a new life partner. David Schaeffer writes with simplicity, clarity, courage--and a dash of humour as well, in the midst of dealing with heavy issues. All up, a book that oozes the love and grace of God but also challenges in a disarming and uniquely Aussie way.
