Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World

Absolutely loved this book

It was so encouraging and inspirational!

One of my favourite sayings in the book is:

The Cure

* God continue to unload the wagon removing both light and heavy items. they dropped to the ground, the dust swirling up around them. the man who had hoped to help God grew silent. “if you will be content to let others take their own burdens,” God told him, “ I will help you with your task,” “but I promised I would help! I can’t leave these things lying here. ” “let others shoulder their own belongings,” God said gently. “I know you were trying to help, but when you are weighted down with all these cares, you cannot do what I have asked of you. ” The man jump to his feet, suddenly realising the freedom God was offering. “you mean I only have to take the three stones after all?” he asked “that is what I asked you to do. ” God smiled. “my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. I will never ask you to carry more than I will give you the strength to bear. ”

It was such an interesting concept to me.

Aren't we all too busy? Finding it nearly impossible to keep up, let alone have meaningful and consistent quiet time. The title of this book is what made me take it from the shelf. . . but it was the writing inside that led me to read it in record time - despite the busyness! Very relatable and challenged me in areas I thought I had no room to move. The author shares of her own personal journey (which is continual) in finding balance amongst the demands of work, family, serving in the community and the desire to grow in her relationship with the Lord --In a world where there never seems to be enough time or energy to do it all. She wonderfully draws on the story of Mary Martha and teaches how we can learn from both of these women - and in turn live a more balanced and meaningful life - closer to our Lord.
