Insightful Read
This is such an incredible resource to read Scripture through the lens of the culture of the time, as opposed to through our own eyes of a contemporary western world.

A Must-Read Book
Kenneth E. Bailey is a master of Middle Eastern culture. He has written this eminently insightful book which helps us to read the four Gospels against its historical and cultural setting. If we were to rightly understand the Gospels (and also the other books of the Bible), the historical and cultural contexts in which they were written cannot be ignored. This book deserves careful and serious study. Its interpretive insights derived from cultural anthropology and skilled exegesis are sure to provide a feast to the mind and heart of the serious-minded Christian. Highly recommended!

Fascinating Insight
Fascinating insights into Middle Eastern culture. Some interpretations are quite different to what is commonly read or heard. Others are similar. Well worth reading for anyone studying the Gospels.

Book a must read!
A must read. I was blown Away at the first Chapter. He claims Jesus's birth was not In a lonely barn rejected by the """"inn"""" keeper and he very well backs it up!! He covers women in the bible, beattidtudes, parables and more!!\\r\\nAMAZING eye opening book for passages that have lost their meaning in the modern world.
