Pain. Suffering. Loneliness. Life can be hard, and sometimes it seems like God doesn't even care. In the midst of difficult trials, many people have resonated with the book of Job--the story of a man who lost nearly everything, seemingly abandoned by God. Christopher Ash helps us glean encouragement from God's Word in this meditative commentary by directing our attention to the final explanation and ultimate resolution of Job's story: the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Taking a staggeringly honest look at our broken world and the trials that we often face, this volume offers readers a glimpse of God's sovereign purposes for suffering and the incredible hope that we have in Christ.

    Christ-centred Theodicy

Very helpful companion when we are reading the book of Job. It is verse-by-verse, very detailed exposition on the book of Job. Great read for those who are undergoing some kind of suffering or preparing our faith for suffering or to help our friend that is suffering. Most of all, what I love is that at the end of each chapter, there is connection to Jesus Christ, as the Bible says that faith comes from hearing the word of Christ (Romans 10:17)

For the distressed who wants to seek God in their suffering

This book is worth the time invested in it if you want to be encouraged to be a man/ woman of God during those difficult seasons. The writing of the commentary in layman terms, the way Ash relates it to our walk with God and the link of the book of Job with the Gospel makes this book a superb read not just for the sake of understanding the book of Job, but also for those time of suffering n discouragement.

    Excellent

This is easily the best commentary on Job that I have come across. It answers the questions that I have had about Job, but have never before had them adequately answered. \\nIt is both sobering and encouraging, always pointing to Christ. Very realistic about life in this world for the believer, certainly destroying any soft versions of the Christian life. \\nDisturbing at times, but also full of real hope. Cannot recommend this book too highly. \\n

    Hope in suffering

Christopher Ash does an amazing job at illustrating and interpreting the passages from Job. The book has given me a fresh fire for God's Word, and has shown me just how important the book of Job is. Ash makes it so clear how Christ and cross centred this book is, and he makes every single chapter riveting and left wanting more. 5 stars EASY.
