    Engaging and faithful retelling

A square hardcover book, a """"true story from the Bible"""" (as all the books in the series start) about Jonah. Told faithfully but very engaging, even to 1yo's. He is portrayed as the grumpy and reluctant prophet that he was. The book uses synonyms throughout to give emphasis to features of the characters eg mean, nasty, horrible, cruel; and to the fish """"vomit"""" sound, which the littlies really love. It tells about Jonah sulking when God has mercy on Ninevah, which many kids stories seem to omit. It ends with God telling Jonah that """"I am Kind, I am Loving. . . even to very grumpy people like you! """"

    So lovely and funny

This is by far my favourite of this series of books! The pictures are sweet, but the message is powerful!! The author uses lots of synonyms throughout the book (a great way to teach language), but also really effectively tells the story of Jonah and God's love and forgiveness. At the end of the story Jonah is complaining: """"I knew you would forgive them. You are a kind and loving God, and you're always ready to forgive people who turn back to you - however bad they've been!"""" God said,""""You're right Jonah. I am kind, I am loving and I will forgive ANYONE who turns to me. . . even very grumpy people like you!"""" Haha, makes me smile every time, but yet it is so true and so wonderful. The book is a nice sized hardback book, well presented and I would recommend for children 2-6 years old.
